Alexis looked at Leo a raised an eyebrow.
"Right!" she muttered before an uncontrolled laugh came out of her own mouth. She hadn't laughed this much in a very long time. Not a Hogwarts, nor at the Thrif household.

Leo carried on laughing, until he crashed into a tree. He jumped back, thinking he saw a pair of glowing eyes. If something was watching them, they should hurry up. He still kept a smile on his face, just in case it was his mind playing tricks on him. Plus, he didn't want to scare Alexis, though he doubted she would be too scared.
He couldn't help but notice that laughing made Alexis seem more...human? She seemed more relaxed when she laughed. A strong gush of wind made him shiver, and he cursed slightly when he hit his foot on the root of a tree.
Without thinking, he took the side of the path nearest the lake. It seemed the manly thing to do. Until his shoes began to slip. With a suprised yell, he tumbled sidewards into the Lake. Water rushed up to greet him, and he swore he felt scaled hands on him.
He opened his eyes and screamed when he saw the colony of Merepeople below. Air bubbles rushed to the surface as he yelled, and then his legs began to kick in a flurry of action. When he burst to the surface, his hair stuck to his face, his shirt turning see-through and gasping for breath, he grabbed out for the ground.
"Get me the hell out of here!" cried Leo.

Alexis watched as Leo tumbled into the water. She stood there for a while just watching him, then it snapped to her that she should help him. Though what she had to do she really didn't have a clue.
"What the hell do you want me to do?!" she yelled!

Leo gasped as he struggled to keep his head above water. He was never a keen swimmer.
"Grab my hand! God sake! Actually, no! Grab a branch, set fire to it, and then hold it near the surface! Merepeople are scared of fire, right?! Oh, who cares, just do it!" cried out Leo, his hand slapping the wet and slippery grass below Alexis' feet.
He felt a clawed, wet hand scratch his foot, and panicked. His feet kicked out, and he just hoped Alexis was quick enough

ALexis quickly snapped a branch of a near by tree, she took out her wand, pointed at the branch, and yelled, "Incendio!"
At once the branch caught a light, Lexi nealt near the lake and held the branck there, hoping that the Merepeople would soon let go of Leo!

Leo winced as the heat from the flames hit him, but sighed when the Merepeople let go and scattered. He heaved himself up onto the shore and lay there, gasping. He stood up and smiled at Alexis.
He was dripping wet and colder, not to mention embarassed. Embarassed that he'd fallen in and embarassed that his upper body was now in plain sight. Well, that was what you got when you wore white and well into water.
"Thanks, Alexis, I owe you one. Now, lets hurry up before the sun sets completly." said Leo, smiling as well as he could at the Fourth Year.

Alexis just stood there shaking her head, "What idiot manages to get them selves into the Lake? Well at least you're alive, I guess" Lexi said still sounding unimpressed.
"Come on then!" she said as she started walking in the direction of the castle.

Leo shivered slighlty and smiled. He began to walk, his feet swimming into their own little pools of water, contained within his expensive shoes. And now that his hair was wet, it looked brown. He groaned and pushed hair, which when wet was too long for his liking, out of his eyes.
"God sake, I look stupid as a brunette. I mean, look at me. Blonde looks better, adds to my cold-heartdness. Brunette? Makes me look too...too...nice." rambled Leo, flicking a strand of hair off his temple.
He stuck his hands in his sodden pockets and groaned when he pulled out a small fish.
"Brilliant." he hissed, flinging the fish back into the Lake.

Alexis just looked at Leo, part of her wanted to laugh at him, part of her wanted to walk away from him and pretend they had never met. Both would have been quite harsh. And Alexis didn't want to push Leo away just yet, she wanted to know a bit more about him first. So she just silently followed him,
She smirked at the comment about blondes and brunettes, and then watched as he flung a fish from his pocket bak into the lake. Lexi wanted to quicken the pace, the evening air was getting to her, but if she was feeling like this Leo must have been feeling ten times worse!

Leo smirked slightly when he saw Alexis speed up her pace. He was suprised she had let him walk with her so close to the castle. The hill up to the castle wasn't far off, and he could just make out a few stragglers making their way up it. No doubt they'd be the last students in. And unless they hurried up, they were gonna both get detentions.
He glanced at Alexis' shoes and knew there was no way she was running in them. And then he paused slightly. Girls did seem to have the ability to run in ridiculous shoes. Then again, what would Alexis think of running?
Deciding a fast walk was the best option, Leo copied Alexis.
"You know, your friends will throw a hissy fit if they see the two of us together. Not sure if it would be out of outrage or jeaulousy. No offence, but your friends are the type of people that throw themselves at every male in the school. That's the way they come across, anyway. And isn't that them, there?" smirked Leo, pointing to a small group of girls stood at the bottom of the hill.
They weren't far away from them, a couple more steps and they'd be able to recongize each other. This was gonna be fun.

Alexis groaned, Leo was right. Why the hell were they all out this late?!
Lexi looked at Leo who had also quickened his pace, she stopped. "Um...I think I've left something by the Lake, I'll just go and get it. You go in, you must be freezing!"
Alexis needed to get herself out of this mess and fast, if her friend saw her with Leo. What would they think? Would they even speak to her?!

Leo cocked an eyebrow as Alexis stopped. He turned. Left something by the Lake? How stupid did she think he was? However, if she wasn't happy with her friends seeing her and him, he'd go with it. Didn't mean he was happy.
"Oh, sure, um, maybe see you around school." said Leo.
Another reason why he was sorted in Slytherin was his uncanny ability to pull of emotions. Which is why his voice had sounded hurt, even to him. If that didn't have an effect, nothing would. He smiled sadly and carried on walking, and grinned to himself as he did so. Take that, Alexis Thrif!
When he approached her friends, their chatter died down and they eyed him up. He must of looked interesting, with his chest of view, slightly brown hair and lips that were turning blue. He smield and nodded his head at them.
"Ladies, looking good." he flirted.
He heard two of them giggle, and then he paused. Revenge. He was temtped to sya something like 'Alexis and me were just having a nice walk along the lake' or even imply they got off together, but he didn't. No. He was going to play it slow. Pretend to be hurt. Pretend to be upset. If she fell for it, lead her on for a bit. And then finally ruin her.
Oh, revenge was sweet.

Alexis walked back for a bit, she had no remorse for what she had done. After all she needed to make sure she was doing well, before she could even think about caring about anyone else. Caring? Lexi scoffed at the thought, she wasn't in the slightest caring! No one else in the world mattered, she had to get on top, she had to make sure she was up there!
Whatever Leo thought, or felt, could easily be pushed aside. Like she did with everyone's feelings. Because really who cared?!
After about 300 yards she turned around and made her way back up the castle.

Leo sighed at the warmth that hit him when he walked into the Common Room. Luci was sat in one of the sofa, and stood up as soon as he walked in.
"Leo Thomas Darke! Where the hell have you been? And why are you wet?" snapped Luci, hands on hips and looking like a Mother.
Leo just smirked and shrugged, before flopping down in an armchair near the fire. Now then, Alexis had to walk through the Common Room to get to her Dorm. Stage Two of the Revenge Plan.
"Alright, Luci, don't freak out and don't ask why. Just do this for me. I'm freezing, I want you to put a blanket over me, and I'm gonna to charm myself to look a lot worse. When Alexis Thrif walks in, you have to pretend like I'm seriously ill.
If she aks what the matter with me is, she might, she might not, tell her I collapsed on the way here because I'm suffering from hypothermia. OK?" said Leo.
Luci raised an eyebrow and grabbed the blanket she had been sat on and draped it over Leo, whilst he charmed himself. His lips and eyelids turned blue and his teeth began to chatter uncontrollably. He shakily gave Luci a thumbs up. Showtime.

Lexi met up with the girls at the front of the castle, and they all walked to the Slytherin Common Room. The girls were going on about how they saw Leo, and Alexis just walked with them and listened.
They soon hurried up, when they all remembered that they could get a detention for being out over curfew, so they all started walking a little bit faster. At last they hit the common room, Alexis said the password and the wall opened.
They all stepped went in one by one, Alexis being the last. By the time she got in the girls had already started to make it up to the rooms. The fire was crackling, and just hearing it filled her with a warmth in her body. She looked over to an armchair near the fireplace, and there draped in a blanket, shivering from head to toe was Leo.
