Bert sat in the Study Area on his own, which in all fairness was quite unusual for Bert, as he liked to be around people.
The Area was quite secluded, only a few people dotted around here and there, most people were outside enjoying the Autumn weather. There was a crisp feeling in the air outside, the leaves dries out leaves were dancing in the wind and when they settled in the floor, the first years' outside would kick the up into the air again.
Bert looked around to see if there was anyone he could make some sort of conversation with, but most were just engrossed in their study. Which brought Bert to the point of why he was in here in the first place. It wasn't as if he was actually doing any work, he finished all that in the Hufflepuff common room.
Bert sighed heavily, there was no one here to have a laugh and a joke with. And that was the thing he was best at. Bert was the type of person who could fill a room with happiness and laughter. Well at Hogwarts he was anyone. He had to be more refined at home. His father, Fyodor, well, he hated Bert for the fact he was a wizard. Bert found this unfair and both his younger and older sister's were both witches, yet Fyodor had no problem with them. But it wasn't only the fact that Bert was a wizard, it was also because he wasn't, what his father called a proper man. He didn't like football, or any sport for that matter!
And that was probably why Bert hated his name, Bert Fyodor Ivanova. He had gained his father's first name as his middle name. And it wasn't something he was proud of!
Bert didn't have a close relationship with any of his family really. His mother wouldn't dare speak to him, in case his father got more angry. And Jessie and Tilly wouldn't speak to him either because, they blamed Bert for the fact his father got so angry. Bert was over the moon when he had found out that both his sister's weren't in his house!
bert sighed again, and then slumped deeper in his chair. Boredom was something he really wasn't use to!

Frankie smirked as she grabbed her books from her Dorm and ran out into the Common Room. She got a funny look from lots of people, probably because of the fact she was holding a book. But everyone knew she was clever, and she was in her Seventh Year, so why the big shock?
It didn't take her long to reach the Study Area, though she did got lots more of the looks. Maybe it was the short shorts and revealing white top, but she always wore stuff like that. Or maybe one of her cousins had done something. Rosa or Leo probably...
Her mind wandered and she thought how different her life would be if Leo wasn't in the school. She loved him, but he caused more problems for her than she already had. It was almost like he was trying to make his life hell...
Then again, her life was already hell. She was a member of the Darke family, dressed in a very revealing way and had a pretty bad history in Hogwarts. But unlike Leo, she took notice of people's opinons. And they weren't good.
People judged her, people judged everyone, she judged people, but sometimes the judgements were unfair. She sighed as a girl glared at her and then began to walk faster when she saw one of her ex-boyfriends, Wes Taylor, walk towards her.
She really wasn't in the mood to talk to him. She ran down the Fourth Floor corridor, luckily no one was there to laugh when she slipped and fell. She winced as she stood back up, her tailbone bruised aswell as her pride.
When she arrived at the Study Area and walked in and sat down. She looked up for a second, and groaned. She knew the person, Bert Ivanova. The only reason she knew him was because Leo had called him the most annoying person in the school.

Bert grinned when he saw a seventh year Slytherin come to sit down opposite him. He didn't personally know the girl, but had seen her around school.
He straightened up in his chair and grinned even wider, he shuffled out and went to stand beside the girl. "Bert Fyodor Ivanova, at your service my lady!" He bowed deeply as he said this, and people started to stare.
Bert had a reputation for being a bit of an eccentric, most people had gotten use to it by now, though some were still adjusting. The first years were sometimes scared of him, but that soon enough wore off.
Bertie would take any chance he could to make new friends, and though this girl didn't seem exactly friendly he thought he would give it a shot. After all people could change, maybe she just needed a little push.

Frankie cocked an eyebrow. What the hell was the idiot doing? She went red and people began to snigger. She could not believe this was happening. She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. Her eyes narrowed as she glared at the Sixth Year
"Get up, you miserable little Hufflepuff, and shut up, before I curse you so hard your grandchildren will feel it." hissed Frankie.
Then she sat down and hoped that Bert did as he was told.

Bert straightened up a grinned, "With pleasure!"
Bert happily went to sit in his chair, still grinning. She was going to be a hard one to break, but he was still going to give it a go. "Why don't you sit with me for a while? I'm sure you can spare a minute to talk to a lonely Hufflepuff"

Frankie glared at him again. Sit with him? Talk to him? Was he bonkers? She felt herself got red. People were whispering. People had nicknamed her 'The Ice Queen' of Hogwarts, due to her wealth and apparant cold-heartedness. Which made her wonder why the Hufflepuff was talking to her.
Shouldn't he be ignoring her or cowering from her. Not speaking to her and grinning like an idiot. He reminded her of some sort of rodent, like a Chipmunk, not matter how hard you tried to shoot it, it always managed to scamper away, only to pop back up and scare the life of you. Or maybe she was thinking of flies...
"Have you taking something recently? Or are you always such a happy-go-lucky idiot?" snapped Frankie, sitting down and thinking about going to study in the library instead.

Well this was going to be a hell of a lot harder that Bert thought it was going to be, but he wasn't going to give up. Bert never gave up on anything, he was the type of person that would keep on going and going until he got what he wanted.
In all fairness Bert was surprised that the girl hadn't hexed him yet, well she had threatened him.
Bert laughed slightly, "Nah, I'm always this happy, though I may just be a wee bit of something!" He joked in his thick scottish accent that he had always had.
Bert had to be happy, if he wasn't, then his Hogwarts life was going to be just as bad as his home life. And he didn't want that at all, Hogwarts was his escape, the only place that actually felt like home to him! His friends here were more like his family, and his family were more like distant strangers. So him being happy and trying to make others' happy was just in an attempt to stop Hogwarts ever being like the place in Skegness that he just had to spend the summer holiday's in!

Frankie groaned and thumped her head on the table. What had she done to deserve this? When she saw more and more heads turning she sighed. She couldn't believe she was doing this, but she couldn't bare anymore embrassment.
"Sit down, now, and we'll chat. But we'll chat about Quidditch, schoolwork and the weather. No hobbies. No interest. No hates. No crushes. No favourite Professors. Nothing personal, OK?" hissed Frankie, keeping her voice low and quiet.

Bert's grinned widened.
"That's fine with me my fair lady. So what would you like to discuss first?" Bert said a bit too loudly, he didn't mind the attention. He was use to it in all fairness. And it finally seemed as if Bert had actually gotten somewhere with the girl. "I didn't catch your name by the way."

Frankie paused. Once he knew her name, he'd defintly back off. The Darke family. Leo's name was well known, as was hers. Vulcan and Rosa were even becoming respected now.
"Shut up with the fair lady stuff. I hate it. And I'm Frankie. Frankie Darke." said Frankie, casting her eyes down and waiting for Bert's reaction

"Nice to meet ya Frankie, Imust say it's a wee bit windy out there don't ya think?"
Oh had Bert known the name, it was slightly hard not to, but that didn't bother him, he knew not to judge people. People did it to him so many times, he knew it wasn't nice, so he never did it himself.

Frankie grinned slightly. 'Wee bit windy', it made her chuckle slightly. Also the fact that he hadn't reacted to her name. It was odd he hadn't shut up and left. He was a Muggle-Born and a Hufflepuff, she was a Pureblood and a Slytherin. They weren't the best mix.
"It's not that bad, though I would struggle to find the Snitch in it. Then again, I'm a Chaser, not a Seeker." said Frankie, brushing her hand out of her face.

Bert smiled, "I've seen ya play, I'm the Hufflepuff chaser, I think Quidditch is the only sport I actually like to be honest with ya!"
The conversation was slowly starting to flow, and at least there was one thing that they had in common. QUdditch!

Frankie's thin eyebrow raised ever so slightly. The idea of such an eccentric, lively person on the Quidditch pitch was pretty funny to her. She could just imagine him nattering away at his oppenents.
Of course, she knew that he must be decent at Qudditch. The Hufflepuff Quidditch Team were getting better and better, and she briefly wondered if it was him who had knocked her off her broom during the last match against Hufflepuff she had played.
All she knew was that it was a Chaser, that was all she'd been able to get out of the ref before he'd clammed up. She'd smacked him in the face, but that hadn't helped. If it was Bert, she was going to strangle him. She'd broken her leg and her broom was smashed up by a Bludger.
"You're not a fan of sports? You'd get on with my brother, but he's alot worse. Me and my cousin, Leo, tried to get him onto a broom once. He smacked Leo in the face and bolted in the other direction. He's a fan of the books, whereas I hate them. You can't find anything in them," said Frankie, flipping open her book,
"I mean, what the hell is the weakest point on a Nargle? Actually, what is a Nargle? And I've read this book ten times, and I still can't find how many types of troll there are! Also, do you know what Herpo the Foul created? Was it the first Basilisk or the first Sea serpent?"
She knew firing out all of the questions was over-whelming, but she was beginning to get stressed out. After all, the assigment was due in tommorrow, and Vulcan had gone on and on at her to get it done. And she hated it when her twin was right.

Bert sat there just staring at Frankieas she spoke, "If I were to be a wee bit honest with ya, I ain't gotta clue what you're on about sorry love!"
After all, Frankie was in her seventh year and Bert was in his sixth, he hadn't even learnt any of that stuff yet. So really he was of no use here! Bert wasn't the sharpest tool in the box, but he wasn't dumb. He was just average, and that's what he liked being average.
