PERSONALITY: Elara is possibly one of the nicest people you would ever meet. She’s very outgoing and will talk to absolutely everyone. She makes acquaintances very easily and is always looking to meet new people. She has only a few close friends, her trust issues not allowing her to have many more than that. But she still loves talking to people and having fun, she won’t hesitate to walk up to someone new, introduce herself and strike up a random conversation. For the most part, Elara is pretty laid back and easy to get along with, she would make a great friend for those that could get past her stubborn and competitive nature.
She is very outspoken and honest, if someone asks for her opinion on a subject they better get ready for the truth. With her friends she tries to do it in a nice way if the truth isn’t so nice, she’s not usually one to lie –except to teachers. She’s pretty stubborn too, if she has an opinions on a subject and she’s dead set on it it’s almost impossible to get her to change her mind or her views or get her to back down from an argument.
Elara loves trying new things and can often be quite reckless with her decisions (like that night in fifth year where she convinced a few classmates to go into the forbidden forest with her and collect Cornish pixies, which ended with half the creatures in the forest chasing them out). This recklessness has gotten her into many many fights and detentions over the years. Most, if not all the teachers in the school know her name because she has had at least one detention with every single teacher in the school.
It’s a given for any quidditch player, but Elara is incredibly competitive. She likes being the best and doing as well as she can, she’s constantly pushing herself to be better. When she was younger she used to be one of those kids who demanded a rematch if they ever dared lose. Quidditch, thankfully, has taught her that throwing fits and being a sore loser is not acceptable. But quidditch isn’t the only thing she’s competitive about; Elara finds it hard to back down from any sort of challenge.

OVERVIEW: Elara discovering she was a witch was a pretty rocky experience for her. She had no idea about the magical world. Her mother never mentioned it because, as she found out later, her mother was so devastated by his death that she just couldn’t talk about it. Elara first started showing signs of magic when she was six, only a couple years after her father died. It started out with small things like when bullies would try to take things from her, whether it was a softball, a doll or pencil they would find the object incredibly slippery and impossible to hold onto. Or when they played dodgeball and Elara was teamed up on everything that hit her would just bounce back and hit the person who threw it. It wasn’t long before Elara realized that it was her doing these things, eventually she learned that it wasn’t the only thing she could do, she could make crayons and other things change colors.
She confided these things in her friends, desperate to know if they could do it too or if she was just a freak. Her friends at first were certain that they were trick crayons and that Elara wasn’t really doing it. After all, how could she? They weren’t stupid, they knew magic didn’t exist this was definitely some prank she was playing. But when Elara started spinning a top was when they got scared. Elara begged them not to tell anyone, everyone else would surely react as badly as her friends did, her friends promised not to tell anyone else. After that they wasted no time in informing the entire first grade about Elara’s abilities. That whole year Elara was teased and picked on, but she was stubborn and refused to talk to her mother about what was going on at school. It wasn’t until summer and the year was over that Elara finally confided in her mom, she told her everything about the changing colors, the spinning tops, about her friends and all the people that picked on her at school.
Marie immediately withdrew her from the school and enrolled her into another one. She told Elara about her father and what he was and all the things he could do. She explained to her that not everyone was going to understand how Elara was special and it was best to keep these things a secret. Elara felt relieved, she wasn’t a freak after all. There were more people like Elara and when she turned eleven she would finally be able to meet them. It’s funny how the experiences in early childhood affect the lives of adults or teenagers, Elara learned from this experience how to be more independent and rely on herself more rather than others. She also learned that you can’t always trust people, which made her more guarded as she got older. The rest of her time in muggle schools passed by quite peacefully, she never spoke of the magical world and never tried to show her friends what she could do no matter how close she thought she was with them.
Her mother got remarried the next year after Elara switched schools and announced she was pregnant. This took Elara by surprised but she like Michael and was excited to know that she would soon have a younger sibling. When Kendra arrived Elara was even more excited and spent a lot of her time trying to get Kendra to do magic. She would hand her crayons and try and talk the little baby into changing their colors. She couldn’t help but be disappointed when her mother had told her that Kendra was probably not a witch.
The school year after her eleventh birthday came as a relief, she received her owl that summer and was ecstatic when a representative of the school came to talk to Elara’s parents about Hogwarts and the magical world. When she got to Diagon Alley to pick up her school supplies she, quite childishly, asked her mom if they could move there. Elara was taken by surprise, she didn’t think so much could be done by magic, but the shops gave her a good glimpse at what she would be able to do one day. Elara vowed that she would learn all she could about magic and pay attention in all her classes. That of course didn’t happen; she found all the classes just as boring as Muggle School. With only a few exceptions, she was happy she was sorted into Gryffindor. She knew she wouldn’t have fit in anywhere else. Her first year passed pretty smoothly; she met a lot of people, made a few friends and slacked off in school. Her favourite thing about first year at Hogwarts was learning to fly. She was a natural at it and aced her first class ever.
In her second year Elara was failing History of Magic horribly, she just couldn’t get interested in the class. It was announced one day that the second test of the year was coming up and it was a very important test, while all of her classmates were making plans to study that night Elara was planning on spending a relaxing evening by the lake. One of her classmates, a Slytherin whom she absolutely hated with a burning passion made a joke about how Elara was going to fail the year because she was too stupid to pass history of magic. Well, brave little Elara couldn’t ignore a comment like that. After verbally ripping him a new one Elara studied hard that night, aced the test and literally shoved it in his face when they got their marks back.
Third year was when she tried out for the Gryffindor quidditch team as a beater. She didn’t get the beater position but the captain of the team suggested she try for chaser, having seen her practicing on the field before. Elara got the spot after her trials and found that she really liked playing chaser, and she was pretty good at it too. They won their first match against Slytherin, Elara got a penalty for deliberately hitting a Slytherin chaser in the face with it. But she couldn’t help it; he had been bugging her for months saying how they’ll be wiping her off the goal posts after the match. Fourth and fifth year were pretty uneventful in the grand scheme of things, Elara’s O.W.L results came back the summer after fifth year and she was cleared to take all the courses she needed to become and auror.

RP SAMPLE: It was late, really late but the young Slytherin couldn't fall asleep. Riley had been laying in bed for hours staring at her dorm mates poster of the hollyhead harpies sleeping in mid air on their broomsticks. After deciding that she wouldn't be getting any sleep anytime soon Riley got out of bed and dressed quickly. She opened her trunk as quietly as she could without making any noise and piled books and potion ingredients in her bag. She quickly grabbed her cauldron from underneath her bed and left the quiet dorm room.
Riley tiptoed through the dungeon corridors to Dungeon Five where she quickly closed the door behind her after checking that the hall was clear. Really, she had no idea what potion she was going to brew. Riley was just bored and had a real knack for potions so she liked to practice or just make them for fun. Riley had been dying to try something new and difficult. Something she could really work towards perfecting. So far her secret potions have included many trivial things. If you went and looked at the bottom of her trunk you would find a bunch of different potions that she kept stored away in case a situation called for one of them.
Riley set her books down on a table near the door, put down her cauldron and spread out the different ingredients she carried with her in her bag. She was perhaps making a little more noise then was wise at this hour. Someone was bound to hear but she wasn't all that worried about getting detention. Riley thought she could talk her way out of anything and it wasn't like she had never got detention before. All they ever made her do was write lines or sort things for the teachers. After setting up and organizing the mess on the table Riley leaned over her potions book and flipped through the pages trying to find a potion that interested her.
